  • 8 oz Creamettes elbow macaroni
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk whole or 2%
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp paprika optional
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs optional, for topping if baking

Method
 

  1. Cook Creamettes macaroni according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes to form a roux.
  3. Gradually whisk in milk, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens (about 5 minutes).
  4. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  5. Combine cooked pasta with cheese sauce and mix well.
  6. Serve immediately for stovetop style, or transfer to a baking dish, sprinkle with breadcrumbs, and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15–20 minutes until golden.
