Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups 480 ml whole milk
  • 1 cup 240 ml heavy cream
  • ¾ cup 150 g granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract for classic vanilla; optional for other flavors
  • 4 large egg yolks optional, for richer texture
  • Flavorings of choice: cocoa powder fruit puree, coffee, or nuts
  • Mix-ins: chocolate chips nuts, or fruit chunks (optional)

Method
 

  1. Prepare base: In a medium saucepan, combine milk, cream, and sugar. Heat gently until sugar dissolves. If using egg yolks, temper them with warm milk mixture and return to saucepan; cook until slightly thickened.
  2. Cool mixture: Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract or chosen flavorings. Chill completely in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  3. Freeze in Ninja Creami pint: Pour chilled base into Ninja Creami pint container and freeze for 24 hours (or until completely frozen).
  4. Process: Insert frozen pint into Ninja Creami and select “Gelato” function.
  5. Add mix-ins: After first spin, create a well in the gelato and add chocolate chips, nuts, or fruit chunks; run “Mix-In” function.
  6. Serve: Scoop immediately or store in freezer until ready to enjoy.
