Ingredients
  

  • 12 San Giorgio lasagna noodles cooked al dente
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ lb Italian sausage casings removed
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 jar 24 oz pasta sauce or homemade tomato sauce
  • 1 can 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 Large pot – boiling pasta
  • 1 Large skillet – cooking meat sauce
  • 1 9x13 baking dish – assembling lasagna
  • Aluminum foil – for covering while baking

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil. Add onion and garlic, sauté until fragrant.
  4. Add beef and sausage, cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  5. Stir in pasta sauce, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer 15 minutes.
  6. In a bowl, combine ricotta, egg, and half the Parmesan. Mix well.
  7. Spread a thin layer of sauce in baking dish. Layer noodles, ricotta, sauce, mozzarella. Repeat until finished, ending with mozzarella + Parmesan on top.
  8. Cover with foil, bake 40 minutes. Remove foil, bake 15–20 minutes more until golden and bubbly.
  9. Rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
